About Willamette Falls CERT
The Willamette Falls Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) is a volunteer organization comprised of both Oregon City and West Linn residents. CERT’s goal is to partner with local emergency personnel to train citizens in basic response skills. The Willamette Falls group is spanning the river to help their communities in times of disaster by educating them on how to protect themselves in emergencies.
CERT members are trained through a FEMA approved basic course, and then receive additional training at monthly meetings. Monthly meetings are held at Clackamas Fire District #1 – Station 15, located at 7th St. and Adams St. in Oregon City ( Map ). To educate members of our communities in Emergency Preparedness and assist in emergency situations, as well as with public service events.
CERT educates individuals about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. Using training learned in the classroom and during exercises, CERT volunteers can assist others in their community following a disaster when professional responders are not immediately available to help. CERT volunteers are also encouraged to support emergency response agencies by taking an active role in emergency preparedness projects.
